Salt Rock Chocolate is a chocolate shop on Martha's Vineyard. It is run by two sisters who are local to the island and hand-make their chocolate daily.
"Communication, clarity, quick responses. Clearly you are excellent in your field."
Salt Rock's audience craved community, quality products, and personability. They wanted to feel like they were a part of something special and needed easier ways to stay in Salt Rock's loop.
We needed to create a brand that was friendly and warm, as well as feeling professional and high quality. We also needed to make sure people had an easy time finding Salt Rock's pop up locations, and an easy time getting their unique chocolate order.
"We were blown away by your solutions to our problems. Your service brought us up from amateur to professional."
Based on the strategy, we created a color palette that would allow for both high contrast (to get a professional look,)and warmth (to enhance a friendly feeling.) The font suite is clean yet slightly texturized, giving a hand-made, quality feeling. We also incorporated black and white photos to give the brand a layer of timelessness.
First we created a clear aesthetic direction for the website, giving multiple options that aligned with the brand strategy. Then we built the entire design in Figma. This allowed us to get a clear picture of the whole site's cohesiveness, user experience (UX) and branded feeling without worrying about functionality. Then we developed the site in Squarespace, adding in functionality, animation, SEO and a mobile layout.
